Houston, TX, United States (4E) – Following a series of setbacks, former U.S. president George H.W. Bush, has been kept in an intensive care unit at a Houston hospital, his spokesman Jim McGrath said.
Senior Bush, 88, had persistent fever since Sunday. He was admitted to hospital on November 23 after suffering from bronchitis. McGrath on Wednesday said that Bush’s fever had gotten worse that forced him to remain in the hospital on Christmas. The doctors have apparently kept him on a liquids-only diet.
McGrath said that the ex-president is in a “guarded condition”, adding that he is conversing with the Methodist Hospital doctors as well as family members.
On Christmas, Bush’s wife Barbara, his son and daughter-in-law Neil and Maria and grandson visited him. Former President George W Bush and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, two of his sons, also visited him recently.
