Authorities probe double slaying in New Mexico

Santa Fe, NM, United States (4E) – A double homicide that occurred after gunshots were fired in Valle Vista Subdivision Tuesday night in Santa Fe County, New Mexico is currently under investigation.

In a statement released by the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s department, deputies responded to the reported shooting that happened around 11 p.m. on Valle Vista Court near the I-25 Frontage Road.

Officials said 23-year-old John Griego has been pronounced dead at the scene while 29-year-old Nicolas Baker was taken to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead on arrival.

Both victims sustained gunshot wounds which appeared to have resulted after an altercation between a group of people.

Detectives have been interviewing witnesses Wednesday and looking for other witnesses.
