South Hero, VT, United States (4E) – A 20-year-old volunteer firefighter from South Hero, Vermont has disclosed Monday that he started a fire inside a home earlier this month.

State police stated in a news release that Owen Davies, who occupied the house at 315 U.S. 2 when the fire was reported on December 7, admitted to investigators that he caused the fire inside the home owned by 48-year-old Penny Cunningham.

Three fire origins were discovered at the residence when volunteer firefighters responded about 3:15 p.m. after a report of a kitchen fire blaze, said officials.

A victim was discovered on the second floor of the house and brought to the hospital to receive treatment for smoke inhalation.
