Shootout on Florida highway ends in fiery crash, two hurt

Lake Mary, FL, United States (4E) – A shooting that occurred on Interstate 4 in Lake Mary, Florida ended in a fiery crash that injured two people early Monday morning.

Authorities said gunfire erupted at 3:30 a.m. near the Interstate 4 and 46a exit and multiple shots that hit one of the cars and caused it to catch fire.

Seminole County Fire managed to extinguish the fire and immediately transported the two persons injured to the hospital.

The male driver sustained four gunshot wounds and is in serious condition, while the female passenger, who was burned and wounded, suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

Authorities claimed at least 15 bullet cases were found at the scene and two lanes on the highway remained closed overnight as officials combed for shell casings.

Detectives are still looking for a gun and the second car linked to the incident. The second car has been described as silver.
