Former U.S. Senator Inouye ‘s memorial service set for Sunday

Oahu, Hawaii, United States (4E) – A memorial service for U.S. Sen. Daniel Inouye is scheduled for this Sunday at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl in Hawaii.

He will also be laid to rest in the cemetery.

Inouye died on Dec.17 at the age of 88 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland.

He will lie in the Capitol Rotunda in Washington, D.C., starting at 10 a.m. on Thursday, with visitation scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., according to his office.

A service was held in at the National Cathedral in Washington on Friday where President Barack Obama and members of the Senate honored the World War II veteran.

Obama and his family are now in Hawaii for their Christmas holiday, it is not known however if he will attend Inouye’s memorial service.

A news report has said that Obama is not scheduled to attend a public event while in Hawaii.
