Maryland woman fatally stabbed, person of interest dead
Baltimore, MD, United States (4E) – A 23-year-old woman was stabbed to death in Baltimore, Maryland Thursday and police said the person of interest in the slaying has apparently killed himself.
Authorities said officers arrived at Atholgate Lane along the Ten Hills neighborhood around 12:30 p.m. after receiving a 911 call about a woman who is found unresponsive and with possible multiple stab wounds inside a home.
Cathy McGowan told 11 News that the woman was her daughter, Rebecca Coughenour.
Coughenour was declared dead at the scene.
While detectives were investigating in the area, they received information that Baltimore County police were searching for a man, possibly involved in the crime, along Baltimore National Pike.
The man was discovered dead at 4:21 p.m. inside a vacant office building.
Police revealed Thursday evening that it was still unclear if the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide, but they are investigating the relationship between the man and woman.
Officials said the unidentified man, considered a potential suspect through information given by the community, evidently hanged himself.
