The Last Word
Dustin: “It’s do-or-die for the black and gold this week. This is it; nothing else matters should this game end up as a loss. The Bengals are struggling right now offensively, which gives us a slight advantage on that side of the ball; however without Taylor in the lineup it is still a tough go for the Steelers. I think you’ll see Washington go one step closer to a division title, as the NFC East is way up in the air right now with the three 8-6 squads. As for the rest, I don’t have a good enough reason to give, and besides, I’m far back enough that I’m not gonna win, so it’s just shooting in the dark at this point.”
Dave: “These bowl games are a total crap shoot. I haven’t watched a down of any of these teams’ games this season. As for the Steelers, might as well flip a coin – their effort from week to week has been all over the map. Most intriguing game: Giants-Ravens, a battle of two floundering teams once considered conference favorites. The Giants HAVE to win, they are in real danger of collapsing right out of the playoffs. 49ers are on serious upset alert, the Seahawks are the most underrated team in the NFL.”
Chris: “Against my better judgment, I am picking the Steelers to defeat the Bengals this week. Why? I don’t know. Despite a couple of lousy efforts the past couple of weeks, the diehard Steeler fan inside me can’t believe they will drop three straight to fall out of the playoff picture. It’s been a tough season. Who is to blame? Mike Tomlin? Todd Haley? Ben Roethlisberger? There is certainly enough blame to go around. Injuries and turnovers have killed the Steelers this year. They need to put together two good efforts to eke in. Let’s hope they can get it together … quickly.”
Rusty: “Went with the conferences instead of the records in the bowl games – Washington and SMU have had tougher schedules and it will pay off. Last chance for the Steelers to stumble into the playoffs; can they keep from turning over the opportunity. Giants and Ravens should be a good game as last week’s losses for both teams keep things interesting in their divisions. Who knows what else could happen after last week’s shockers – that’s why they play the games.”
Jay: “Why did I pick the Steelers? I guess the same reason I picked the Jets. I don’t know. I think the playoffs will be great this year because of how up and down the “top” teams are!”
