Fifteen arrested after major drug bust in New Mexico

Valencia County, NM, United States (4E) – At least fifteen people were taken in custody after an early morning drug bust in Valencia County, New Mexico Thursday.

According to Valencia County Sheriff Louis Burkhard, around 70 officers from the Mid-Rio Grande Region One Task Force descended on 13 homes in the neighborhood of El Cerro Mission and Meadowlake at 5 a.m. to serve search and arrest warrants involving drugs, guns, shootings and property crime.

Agents discovered guns, heroin, and even a loaded syringe in one residence, while a black box with cocaine, marijuana, and meth were found in another home.

Investigators divulged there were rifles, ammunition and a surveillance system recovered, too.

Officials said the task force had been watching the areas for the past seven months.
