Louisville, KY, United States (4E Sports) – Louisville community leaders led by former NBA player Junior Bridgeman are entertaining possibilities of bringing an NBA franchise to town.

They recently discussed the idea with Mayor Greg Fischer, who said that Louisville needs to be ready if an opportunity to land an NBA franchise should arise.

The hiring of Pricewaterhouse Coopers by the Greater Louisville Inc. to study its feasibility is imminent, said GLI spokesperson Carmen Hickerson. It will examine Louisville’s strengths and weaknesses versus communities such as Seattle and Virginia Beach that might also be seeking a franchise.

“We need to see whether pursuing an NBA team makes sense for this community. We need more facts,” quips Hickerson.

She noted that Fischer has expressed support for completing the study, which will take about 60 days.

An NBA team in Louisville would probably have to share the KFC Yum! Center with the University of Louisville.

Hickerson said that they would never endorse pursuing an NBA team, if it would create a negative situation for the latter.
