Boy Accused of Posing as Federal Agent

HUSTON TOWNSHIP – A 13-year-old boy has been accused of impersonating a federal agent, reported the Philipsburg-based state police.

The boy arrived at a Julian residence on Thursday and purported to be an agent with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). He posed questions to a 56-year-old man as though he was investigating a shooting incident. Then, the boy fled on foot.

The boy returned to the same residence and told the man that he needed immediate transportation as something urgent had just occurred. He told the man he would return his vehicle in a timely manner. The man contacted state police after a couple hours had passed without his vehicle being returned.

According to the report, the boy had arrived at the Wal-Mart store on Atherton Street. He appeared inside the store as an NCIS officer; however, store personnel who were dealing with him became suspicious and contacted the Patton Township police. The boy was taken into custody.

The man’s vehicle was located in the parking lot and returned to him.

Due to the boy’s age, he was released to family members. He’ll be charged with multiple offenses at a later date in Centre Juvenile Court, including impersonating a public servant, theft of a motor vehicle and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
