Lane Restrictions to be Lifted on Route 26

BELLEFONTE – Lane restrictions on Route 26 near Interstate 80 will be lifted this week as bridge preservation work in that area of Centre County winds down for winter.

Work during the week of Dec. 17 includes:

Tuesday, Dec. 18 — Removal of temporary barrier on Route 26, near the 161/Bellefonte interchange.

Wednesday, Dec. 19 – Guiderail work on Route 26, near the 161/Bellefonte interchange.

During all work in this area, traffic will be reduced to a single lane. An alternating traffic pattern will be enforced by flaggers in the roadway.

Drivers can expect travel delays. Once work is complete, all traffic restrictions will be removed until spring of 2013.

PennDOT anticipates a few weeks of work remaining in 2013 and will issue an update prior to the re-start of work. HRI Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $3.2 million bridge rehabilitation project.
