Police Report: DuBois PSP
- No injuries were reported following a single-vehicle accident at 11:24 p.m. Tuesday on Smithtown Road in Washington Township. Kelcey E. Gulvas, 21, of DuBois was traveling northbound when his pick-up truck crossed into the southbound lane of travel. Then, the Gulvas truck exited the roadway via the west berm and impacted an embankment. His truck continued northbound and overturned before coming to an uncontrolled rest on its roof, blocking both lanes and facing east. Gulvas was wearing his seatbelt. State police were assisted by the Falls Creek Volunteer Fire Department and DuBois Emergency Medical Services.
- An incident of burglary occurred between 11:30 a.m. Dec. 7 and 7 p.m. Dec. 8 along Smithtown Road in Washington Township. Someone forcibly entered the Smithtown Church and removed a laptop computer, guitar and other items. Both the laptop and guitar are unique items, because of their uncommon manufacturers. The laptop is valued at $800 and the guitar at $400. A state police forensic services unit processed the scene. State police are continuing to investigate the incident and following up on leads. Anyone with information is asked to contact the DuBois-based state police at 814-371-4652. State police noted that this has been the second church burglary that has occurred in the area within the past week. Similar items were stolen from both churches.
- An incident of retail theft occurred at 3:45 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Dollar General Store in Winslow Township. A 24-year-old Brockway woman attempted to remove a pair of $15 slipper boots by concealing them in her purse. An employee observed the alleged incident and reported it to the state police. The woman has been charged through the district court.
