Suicidal California man fatally shot by officers

Pollock Pines, CA, United States (4E) – A 38-year-old man who threatened to kill himself was shot and killed by El Dorado Sheriff’s Deputies Wednesday night in Pollock Pines, California after a confrontation.

According to officials, emergency dispatch received a call at 9:30 p.m. about a man with a gun threatening suicide and responding deputies found Christopher Sheldon wandering along Pony Express Trail.

The deputies confronted Sheldon and gunfire erupted, hitting the armed man, who was declared dead at the scene.

Witnesses told investigators they heard multiple shots.

An investigation is ongoing.
