Fresno, CA, United States (4E Sports) – Junior forward Andre Roberson submitted his 30th career double-double to carry Colorado to a 50-43 road win over Fresno State Wednesday at Save Mart Center.
Roberson finished with 17 points and a career-high 20 rebounds as the Buffaloes clinched their first win in three road games. The Buffaloes also clinched an 8-2 record for the first time since the 2001-02 season.
Roberson is the first Colorado player to snatch 20 rebounds in a game since Stephane Pelle grabbed 21 boards on Nov. 21, 2002 against Stetson.
Sophomore Askia Booker and freshman Josh Scott added 14 and 11 points, respectively, for Colorado
“You have to find a way to win when you don’t play your best, and we obviously ran into that in the second half,” Colorado head coach Tad Boyle said. “We didn’t play our best, obviously, but we found a way.”
Kevin Foster scored eight points off the bench to lead the Bulldogs, who dropped to 5-5 after losing four of their last six outings.
None of the Bulldogs’ starters scored double digits with Tyler Johnson and Allen Huddleston scoring just seven points apiece.
The Buffaloes grabbed a 27-17 halftime lead behind a 52.4 percent clip while the Bulldogs fared just 25 percent from the field.
However, the Buffaloes started slow in the second half, failing to score until the 14:47 mark and allowing the Bulldogs to keep the game close.
Spencer Dinwiddie split his foul shots to give Colorado a 46-43 advantage while Roberson and Booker sealed the win with four free throws.
