New York, NY, United States (4E) – New York police have recently talked to a person of interest linked to a robbery involving an 85-year-old woman in a Greenwich Village apartment building elevator.

According to officials, the theft occurred Saturday around 11 p.m. in a building on West 13th Street.

A surveillance video showed the suspect following Yvonne Sherwell into her lobby before she was attacked in the elevator.

Sherwell told CBS 2 that the incident happened so fast, “you’re lying there and you’re terrified. I don’t know what he was going to do.”

Police said the man knocked Sherwell to the ground before he fled, taking off with the woman’s purse and other belongings.

It was reported that the same man has mugged three other women at gunpoint in Manhattan and Queens since last Tuesday.

In each case, the suspect followed the women into their apartment building elevators before robbing them, claimed police.

A 58-year-old woman was victimized at 8:30 p.m. on December 4 in her Far Rockaway building while a 28-year-old woman was attacked about 1 a.m. Saturday in her East Village building. The third victim, a 22-year-old woman, was robbed in her Gramercy Park building around 5: 30 p.m. Sunday.

Police described the thief as around 35 years old, about 6-foot-2 and weighing between 200 and 230 pounds. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
