Obituary Notice: John S. Muccio

John S. Muccio, 83, of Weedville died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012 at his home. Born Dec. 1, 1929 in Penfield, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose (DiLullo) Muccio.

On June 26, 1954 at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Force, he married Geraldine H. (Facchine) Muccio.  She survives.

He was a dock worker for Ward Trucking Co. in Falls Creek for more than 30 years.  After retirement he was the janitor at Bennetts Valley Elementary School for several years.  For more than 50 years, he drove school bus for Muccio Transportation.

He was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Force.  He was also a member of the Bennetts Valley American Legion and a past member of the Penfield Firemen’s Club.  He enjoyed gardening and is well-known for supplying the valley with his prize garlic.  He enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by three sons, Joseph Muccio and his wife, Diana of St. Marys, Richard “Rick” Muccio and his wife, Donna of Kersey and Gary Muccio of Carlisle; one daughter, Maria Muccio of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Joseph Muccio, Anthony Muccio, Nicole Muccio and Kaylee Muccio; and four great-grandchildren, Alex, Marcus, Giuliana and Dominic; a brother, Anthony “Chike” Muccio and his wife, Irene of Weedville; a sister, Esther “Pee Wee” Nelson and her husband, Robert of DuBois; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Angelo and Thomas Muccio; and one sister, Mary Carpin.

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday and from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home in DuBois.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Force with Fr. Thomas L. Tyler as celebrant.

Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 17735 Bennetts Valley Hwy., P.O. Box 124, Force, PA 15841 and or the charity of the donor’s choice.
