PIKE TOWNSHIP – The investigation is continuing into an alcohol-related accident that occurred at 12:11 a.m. Friday on state Route 453 in Pike Township, reported the Clearfield-based state police.
A 38-year-old Clearfield woman was traveling northbound and negotiating a right-hand curve in the roadway. While negotiating the curve, she crossed the centerline into the oncoming lane. The woman drove off the west berm and struck the guiderail.
After impact, her vehicle re-entered the roadway and crossed both lanes. Then, it struck an embankment off the east berm, where it came to a rest, blocking the northbound lane.
The woman was wearing her seatbelt and transported to the Clearfield Hospital for minor injuries. Her vehicle sustained severe damage to its front end; it was towed from the scene.
While interviewing the woman at the hospital, state police detected an odor of alcohol. She was subsequently placed under arrest for DUI.
