Notre Dame, IN, United States (4E Sports) – Top-ranked Notre Dame has secured a verbal commitment from the country’s second-ranked running back Greg Bryant (Delray Beach, Florida/American Heritage) at the end of his official visit, according to his father, Greg Bryant Sr.
A 5-star prospect, Bryant picked the Fighting Irish over Oklahoma, Auburn, Georgia and South Carolina. He was the 22nd verbal commitment in Notre Dame’s recruiting class of 2013 that is currently ranked fourth.
Originally, Bryant picked Oklahoma earlier in the year but reopened his recruitment over the summer.
Bryant could provide immediate help to the Fighting Irish, who will lose top rushers Theo Riddick and Cierre Wood after the BCS National Championship game against Alabama on Jan. 7.
Bryant rushed for nearly 1,500 yards and 17 touchdowns this season and over 3,500 yards and 42 touchdowns in the past two seasons for American Heritage-Delray.
In his junior year, Bryant led his team to a state championship, accumulating 2,452 yards from scrimmage and 27 touchdowns.
However, he failed to lead his team to a second straight title this year after his production dropped to 1,755 yards and 20 total touchdowns.
