One killed in North Carolina house fire

Fayetteville, NC, United States (4E) – Officials are investigating a fire that occurred in a Fayetteville, North Carolina house late Thursday night that killed one person.

Authorities said fire crews discovered heavy smoke and flames when they responded shortly before midnight at the residence along Derbyshire Road and they found the body on the first floor during an initial search.

The victim’s identity was not released.

According to reports, the fire was extinguished after 45 minutes, but the structure sustained major damage.

The fire department and the State Bureau of Investigation are now examining the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
