Dona J.  Hawkins, 77, of Clearfield died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at her home. She was born Dec. 17, 1934, in Glen Richey, the daughter of Julius T. and Cora (Rowles) Hoyt.

Mrs. Hawkins served as a registered nurse at the Clearfield Hospital for nearly 12 years.

She was a member of the Alumnus Association of Clearfield Hospital, the Quilters Club in the Clearfield area and the Retired Nurses Association of Clearfield.  She was active in many church organizations and a former den mother for the Boy Scouts for many years.

Mrs. Hawkins was affiliated with the Hyde Wesleyan Church, Hyde, and the West Side Baptist Church, Fort Pierce, FL.

She is survived by her three children, Thomas Allen Hawkins III, of Ebensburg; Richard Hoyt Hawkins, of Clearfield; and Eric Trevor Hawkins and his wife,

Stephanie of Raleigh, NC; two grandchildren, Taylor Caroline Hawkins and Riley Jane Hawkins; a brother, Darl T. Hoyt, of Corvallis, MT; a sister, Doris M. “Midge” Hanes of Clearfield; a sister-in-law, Linda Hawkins Puit and her husband, Robert of Glen Richey; and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Allen Hawkins Jr., whom she married June 12, 1955 and who died on May 9, 2003, and two nephews Chris Hoyt and Bobby Puit.

Honoring Mrs. Hawkins wishes there will be no public viewing.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Hyde Wesleyan Church, 1215 Riverview Rd., Clearfield with the Rev. Robert Croft officiating. Burial will be in the Bloomington Cemetery.

The family suggests the contributions be made to the Hyde Wesleyan Church, P.O. Box 164, Hyde, PA 16843.
