The Moshannon Valley Community Education Foundation recently voted to approve and fund a grant request received from Lillian Eason, a Moshannon Valley High School chemistry and physical science teacher.

The grant is to fund two field trips to the Breazeale Nuclear Reactor at the Pennsylvania State University, University Park on Jan. 30-31, 2013. The Breazeale Nuclear Reactor at Penn State has a rich history. The near 60 students will tour the nuclear power plant and experience first-hand the practical application of the theory they learn in the classroom.

In addition to the tour, the students will gain laboratory experience through the lab activity that the site coordinators conduct while being exposed to this specific disciplinary field offered on a major university’s campus.

Presenting the check to Eason is Laura Mihalko, MVCEF board member and Grant committee co-chairperson. Also pictured is Moshannon Valley Junior-Senior High School Principal John Dibert.
