London, United Kingdom (4E) – The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge William and Kate announced Monday that they are expecting their first child.
One of the most awaited moments of royal history, it is expected that the royal couple and other members of the family are delighted with the news, which was announced via the Duke and Duchess’ official website.
Kate was driven to the hospital by her husband William while they were at her family home in Berkshire during the weekend after not being able to keep any food or water down. She was suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum, which, according to the announcement, is a very acute morning sickness that requires supplementary hydration and nutrients.
It seems the royal baby has mustered up strength to make its presence felt. The announcement read, “The Duchess was admitted this afternoon to King Edward VII Hospital in Central London with Hyperemesis Gravidarum. As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter.”
It is not stated when the baby is due or how far along the Duchess is but speculations are she is not beyond her first trimester. Last week, Kate went on a visit to her alma mater St. Andrew’s School, where she was photographed playing hockey.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister David Cameron expressed his delight over twitter saying, “I’m delighted by the news that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting a baby. They will make wonderful parents.”
