Washington, United States (4E) – The mystery over the whereabouts of John McAfee, who pioneered popular anti-virus computer software, on Sunday deepened further after his official blog site claimed that the authorities in Belize have captured him near the border of Belize and Mexico.
“We have received an unconfirmed report that John McAfee has been captured at the border of Belize and Mexico,” his official blog whoismcafee.com said.
However, the people of Carmelita town in the San Pedro area where he is reportedly captured denied his arrest. The officials have not yet confirmed his arrest.
McAfee has been on the run since last month after a Florida native Gregory Faull was found dead in a pool of blood at his residence on the Caribbean island of Ambergris Caye. Police is hunting 67-year-old technology tycoon to interrogate him in the Faull murder case in which police claim they don’t consider him as a suspect.
A police investigation found a gunshot in the back of Faull’s head. There were no signs of a break-in in the house, however, a cell phone and laptop were missing.
McAfee denied any involvement in Faull’s murder and said that he is running away from the authorities amid fears that they may execute him if he is captured. He added that he has been at odds with the corrupt Belize government ever since he refused to grant donation to a local political campaign.
