Stanford, CA, United States (4E Sports) – Chiney Ogwumike racked up 21 points and 11 rebounds and Taylor Greenfield knocks down six three-pointers on her way to a career-high 18 points as the no.1 Stanford Cardinal blasted the Gonzaga Bulldogs, 69-41, Sunday at McCarthey Athletic Center.
The Cardinal preserved their unblemished record after eight games behind the usual monster production from Ogwumike and a hot-shooting Greenfield.
Stanford rolled to a 17-5 lead after the first 10 minutes and never looked back. The Cardinal ended the first half with 32-16 lead and continued to pummel the cold-shooting Bulldogs in the second half.
Gonzaga could not solve Stanford’s imposing defense as the finished the ballgame with a mediocre 17-for-67 shooting (25.4 percent).
Taelor Karr and Haiden Palmer scored 10 points each for Gonzaga, which will have an easy task in its next three games before facing Ohio State Buckeyes on Dec. 17.
Stanford, meanwhile, will next take on Pacific Tigers on Dec. 15 and South Carolina on Dec. 19 before playing 16th ranked Tennessee Lady Vols on Dec. 22 and archrival UConn Huskies on Dec. 29.
