DeRozan, Calderon help Raptors beat Suns, snap six-game skid
Toronto, ON, Canada (4E Sports) – DeMar DeRozan recorded 23 points and 8 rebounds and Jose Calderon added 13 points and 9 dimes as the Toronto Raptors snapped their six-game losing skid with a 101-97 victory over the Phoenix Suns Friday night at Air Canada Center.
The Raptors finally found a way to step up at the most crucial time as they leaned on solid late game execution and good defense to finally put an end to their losing woes.
Finally, the battle boiled down to a pulsating finish as Amir Johnson scored 8 of his 16 points in the fourth, including a dunk that put the Raptors ahead, 98-95, with 1:44 minutes remaining.
Phoenix reserve guard Shannon Brown made a layup to make it a one-point game with still a minute left on the clock, as the Suns battled back.
But the Suns simply cooled down in the most important minute, missing their last five shot attempts on their way to a disappointing road loss.
Marcin Gortat, Shannon Brown, and Jared Dudley all scored 14 markers to lead the way for the Suns, who dropped three games below .500 at 7-10.
