Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Sticking to its aim of searching and recognizing quality films, filmmakers and actors, The Sundance Film Festival has announced the competition lineup for 2013.
Seemingly dominated by women, the Festival has chosen 113 feature-length films from 32 countries out of the 12,146 submissions, where 2,070 feature films were from the USA. Eight of the 16 films in the dramatic category are directed by women.
“The films, both documentary and narrative, selected for our 2013 Festival have a particular immediacy and fearlessness to them showing us that independent film is as vibrant, creative and relevant as ever. Filmmakers are telling raw, powerful stories that are sure to create new energy in audiences and communities across the globe in the months to come,” said Sundance Film Festival Director John Cooper in a press release.
Included in the dramatic category are Lynn Shelton’s ‘Touchy Feely’, ‘Liz W Garcia’s ‘The Lifeguard’, Lake Bell’s ‘In a World’ and Jerusha Hess’ ‘Austenland.’
Also included is John Krokidas’ ‘Kill Your Darlings’, which stars Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe as Beat poet Allen Ginsberg.
The Sundance Film Festival will run from January 17-27, 2013 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah.
