Team NY tops Team Philly/NJ in charity hockey game

Atlantic City, NJ, United States (4E Sports) – Team New York upended Team Philly/New Jersey, 10-6, in charity game dubbed as “Operation Hat Trick.”

James Neal scored three goals and Bobby Ryan added a goal for New York in the first period. Neal finished with four goals.

Meanwhile, New York goalie Henrik Lundqvist was on pace for a 69-save performance.

That came to an end in the second period when Gagne got Philly’s first goal. Wayne Simmonds added another goal to make it 4-2. Lundqvist still finished with 56 saves.

It was a 7-4 game heading into the final period, when Team New York pulled away once and for all.

Despite most having not played competitively since last season, their passing was very sharp.

Proceeds from the event benefited relief efforts for Sandy victims in New York and New Jersey.
