Ohio fire killed a family of five
Seneca County, OH, United States (4E) – The family of five who died in an early Tuesday morning fire that completely destroyed their rural home in Seneca County, Ohio has been identified.
The victims were Joseph D. Hamilton; his wife 31-year-old wife, Holly R. Hamilton; her daughter, 11-year-old Olivia Bondy; and the couple’s two sons, 8-year-old Jaxon Hamilton and six year-old Linkin Hamilton.
Dean Henry, public information officer for Seneca County, said the fire was reported around 3:17 a.m. by a truck driver who saw smoke and flames coming from the residence.
When responding firefighters arrived, the fire has already engulfed the house.
Fire crews from Attica-Venice-Reed, Republic, Huron River, Bellevue and Monroeville fought two hours to extinguish the fire. Several firefighters stayed to search for the bodies of the victims, and the last body was recovered around 2 p.m.
The Lucas County Coroner said autopsies have been set for this week.
Henry revealed that the cause and origin of the fire is still under investigation.
Lyn Polan, spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Commerce, said the investigation is led by the State Fire Marshal, Attica-Venice-Reed Fire Department, the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and the coroner.
