Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ edges Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby’ as top You Tube video
Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – In less than half a year after being uploaded on YouTube, Psy’s dance video ‘Gangnam Style’ has won over Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby’ as the site’s most watched video of all time.
With over 817.7 million views as of Sunday afternoon, ‘Gangnam Style’ has not only taken over YouTube but the music world as well. The singer, Psy, 34, has travelled to various parts of the world to perform not only by himself and his backup dancers but with many big names in music such as Britney Spears, MC Hammer and Madonna.
The colorful video is said to be a parody on Gangnam, a part of Seoul, South Korea where affluence and high standard of living are heavily concentrated. It also popularized the now famous ‘horse dance,’ where Psy dances as if trotting on a horse and galloping at one point.
‘Gangnam Style’ has bagged several awards in such a short period time, winning this year’s best video in the recent MTV Europe Music Awards.
According to YouTube, Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ gets around 7-10 million views per day, while its predecessor, Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby,’ which has a little over 800 million YouTube views since its upload in February 2010, is being viewed up to 500,000 times a day.
