Man Transported to Altoona with Major Injuries after Single-vehicle Accident

RIDGWAY TOWNSHIP – A 28-year-old Johnsonburg man sustained major injuries and was transported to the Altoona Hospital following a single-vehicle accident at 4:35 a.m. Thursday on Johnsonburg Road in Ridgway Township.

The Ridgway-based state police identified the man as David J. Boylan, 28, of Johnsonburg. He wasn’t wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Boylan was traveling northbound on Johnsonburg Road and negotiating a left-hand curve in the roadway. He lost control of his pick-up truck, which crossed over into the southbound lane and impacted a guiderail on the west berm.

Upon impact the Boylan truck rotated in a counterclockwise direction while traveling in a northerly direction for approximately 170 feet. It came to a final rest in the southbound lane, facing north.

Charges are currently pending against Boylan.
