United States (4E Sports) – After seven years of marriagem Danica Patrick and Paul Hospenthal will divorce.
They have amicably decided to end their marriage, according to Patrick.
“This isn’t easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this,” Patrick wrote on her Facebook page on Tuesday.
Patrick, 30, and Hospenthal, 47, were married in 2005.
They met when Patrick was treated by Hospenthal, a physical therapist and personal trainer who specializes in fitness for golfers, for a hip injury after yoga.
The couple had no children.
Patrick just completed her first full season in NASCAR, running the full Nationwide schedule and 10 Sprint Cup Series races after leaving IndyCar.
On Monday, the one-time Sports Illustrated cover model was named the NASCAR Nationwide Series most popular driver, an award voted on by racing fans.
A former IndyCar racer, Patrick finished a career-high third in the 2009 Indianapolis 500 and became the first female winner at the Indy Japan 300 in 2008.
