Dale City, VA, United States (4E) – A section of the northbound lane of Interstate 95 in Virginia is again open after being shut down Wednesday morning at the Dale City exit when a man inside a Greyhound bus made threats to other passengers.

According to Virginia State Police, the High Occupancy Vehicle lanes near Dale City’s rest area were shut down after a call came in around about 3:30 a.m. that a Greyhound bus male passenger was making threatening comments.

The bus was evacuated after police arrived, and the suspect, who initially refused to leave the bus, was detained.

In a statement, Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller said that because of the man’s threats to harm the other passengers, “police thoroughly explored and examined the bus for any suspicious packages.”

Nothing was found on the bus, which was heading to New York from Richmond, and the lanes were reopened to traffic around 6:10 a.m.
