Pittsburgh, PA, United States (4E Sports) – The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed wide receiver Plaxico Burress.
Burress impressed Steelers coach Mike Tomlin and general manager Kevin Colbert during a brief workout early Tuesday even though he hasn’t played since the end of the 2011 season.
”He’s in really good physical condition based on the workout I just saw,” Tomlin said. ”He’s got very good body control for a big man.”
Burress played last season with the New York Jets, hauling in 45 receptions and eight touchdowns.
The Steelers hosted Burress to patch up their injury-ravaged receiving corps.
Starting wideout Antonio Brown has missed the past two games due to a sprained ankle, and Jerricho Cotchery fractured his ribs in Sunday’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
Burress spent his first five seasons with the Steelers before signing as a free agent with the New York Giants in 2005.
