Two killed in Virginia army base fire
Fort Lee, VA, United States (4E) – Two people died after flames engulfed a residential area of an army base in Virginia early Monday morning.
According to Public Affairs Office spokesman Stephen Baker, two unidentified people were killed when the fire happened around 3:00 a.m. at the housing unit of the Fort Lee army base.
In his email, Baker said that the names of the deceased are being withheld pending next of kin notification.
CBS 6 sources claimed the victims were a man and a child.
The fire’s cause is still under investigation.
Fort Lee Fire Chief Franklin Tanner said Fort Lee Fire and Emergency crews were able to contain the fire immediately after arriving.
Around 30,000 people reside on base.
