PHILIPSBURG – Minor injuries were reported following a two-vehicle accident at 3:55 p.m. Friday at the intersection of East Presqueisle and North Second streets in Philipsburg.

According to the Philipsburg-based state police, a vehicle operated by Cierra N. Ireland, 19, of Wallaceton was traveling near the said intersection. Kevin K. Kephart, 47, of Philipsburg was traveling northbound on North Second Street. He stopped at its intersection with East Presqueisle Street.

State police said eastbound traffic had stopped on East Presqueisle Street, which provided a gap between stopped vehicles. The Kephart vehicle entered to turn left onto East Presqueisle Street. However, Kephart failed to observe the Ireland vehicle traveling eastbound and traveled directly into its path.

The Ireland vehicle impacted that driven by Kephart. Both Kephart and Ireland were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident; they sustained minor injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Kephart was cited for stop signs and yield signs.

State police were assisted by the Philipsburg Fire Department and Moshannon Valley Emergency Medical Services.
