Howard Russell Rosentrater, 87, of Chester Hill in Philipsburg died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 at his residence.
Born Jan. 5, 1925 in Munson, he was the son of the late Gustave and Emma (Schultz) Rosentrater. On Aug. 7, 1982 at Pine Hall Lutheran Church, State College, he married Nancy (Magwire) Rosentrater, who survives at home.
He’s survived by one daughter, Debra Kay Heimbrook and her husband, Steven of Darlington, SC and three step-daughters, Gwen Ann Hirchak and her husband, Larry of Gap; Mollie Louise Fleck and her husband, Charles of Dubois; and Debra Jane Clemmer and her husband, Jeffrey of Port Matilda; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Gertrude and Betty.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Geraldine E. and 10 brothers and sisters.
He retired from Penn State University where he worked in the maintenance department mainly in the agriculture building. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Philipsburg, where he was a former choir member. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was inducted in 1942 and was discharged with a rank of P5 in 1946.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Wesley Chapel, with the Rev. Brenda K. Leigey officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard following the service.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg.
Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park, State College.
