Toronto, ON, Canada (4E Sports) – DeMar DeRozan scored 20 points and Jose Calderon dished out 18 assists as the Toronto Raptors took down the Orlando Magic, 97-86, Sunday at Air Canada Centre.
Fresh from receiving a 107-89 spanking at Boston, the Raptors returned home and capitalized on an energized crowd to nab their second win in three games.
Powered by hot-shooting DeRozan and Andrea Bargnani, the Raps were off to a fast start as they led 32-22 at the end of the first period. But the contest tightened in the second quarter as the Raptors only scored 19 points for an eight-point cushion, 49-41, at the break.
However, the Magic played better after intermission, with Aaron Afflalo knocking down his jumpers and Davis controlling things inside. The Magic outscored the Raps by 10, 28-18, in the third quarter to put them with two points, 69-67, going into the fourth.
But the Magic’s chance of winning slowly slipped away when the Raptors unleashed a huge rally that gave the visiting team a 94-80 advantage with 2:32 left to play.
Magic second-year guard E’Twaun Moore tried to make things interesting late but his team just fizzled down the stretch.
Davis and Moore scored 16 points apiece to lead Orlando, which fell to 3-6 after a winning their first two games.
