Texas officer stumbles onto attempted smash and grab robbery

Houston, TX, United States (4E) – A suspected thief who slammed his vehicle into a convenience store in Houston, Texas was prevented from taking anything by a passing police officer early Friday morning.

According to officials, the sports utility vehicle crashed through the Corner Store located along Antoine and Acorn around 1:15 a.m., breaking its security bars. A few minutes after, a law enforcement officer drove by, scaring off the alleged criminal.

The officer chased the suspect for more than five minutes before the driver left his vehicle and escaped on foot upon reaching Oak Thicket Drive and Log View Drive.

Prashant Shah, the store owner, said nothing was stolen but the incident caused more than $15,000 damage to his store.

This is the second crime that happened to his store, he was robbed at gunpoint two weeks ago.
