Maryland trooper wrecks car to avoid deer

Westminster, MD, United States (4E) – A Maryland State Police Westminster trooper, who crashed his patrol vehicle after attempting early Friday morning to avoid a deer, was flown to a hospital.

Westminster barrack commander Lt. Rob Stryjewski said trooper Mark Lyons’ vehicle crashed around 12:41 a.m. while he was heading along Route 26 on Klee Mill Road.

He received treatment at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for injuries he suffered in the incident and is reported to be in stable condition.
