Chicago, IL, United States (4E) – A teenager from Chicago, Illinois has been charged with shooting to death a 16-year-old girl in the south side area of Roseland early this week.

According to authorities, 18-year-old Deon Blandon was charged with first-degree murder for shooting Taylor Fitting in the head while she was sitting in a car’s back seat around 9:25 p.m. last Monday.

The girl was with five other friends in a dark Cadillac with tinted windows when a bullet went through an open window and hit her in the face.

Police said the suspect, who had gang affiliations, was wanted on an outstanding warrant in Lake County.

Blandon allegedly targeted the vehicle and the incident is likely gang-related, said police.

It was unknown if Blandon was aiming at Fitting or someone else.

An unidentified person brought Fitting at Roseland Community Hospital.

She was transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center where she was pronounced dead late Monday evening.

Blandon, who lives one block away from where the shooting occurred, is expected to appear in court Friday morning.
