Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E Sports) – Blake Griffin racked up 20 points and 14 boards and Jamal Crawford delivered 22 points off the bench as the Los Angeles Clippers stepped on the gas pedal in the second half to beat the Miami Heat, 107-100, Wednesday night at Staples Center.
The Clippers improved to 6-2 after spoiling a 30-point effort by LeBron James and the reigning NBA champion on their home floor.
Coming off a two-day rest, the Clippers unleashed their run-and-gun game from the get-go but the Heat superstars also scored in bunches to make it an explosive and entertaining first half.
Trailing by two points at the half, the home team came out firing at all cylinders in the third quarter as they went on to outscore the Heat by 13 points, 33-20, in the period and take an 85-74 cushion entering the final quarter.
The Clippers sustained their momentum into the fourth quarter as Eric Bledsoe and Crawford took their turns to dismantle the Heat defense.
Bledsoe finished with 12 points while Crawford continued his ankle-breaking ways by hiking up his scoring average to at least 21 points per game.
James had another monster statistical night with 30 points, 7 dimes, and 5 assists but Chris Bosh (11 points and 9 rebounds) and Dwyane Wade (5 points and 3 assists) failed to give much needed support for the three-time MVP.
The Heat suffered their third loss of the season and second loss in their current six-game road trip. The Clips captured their fourth straight victory.
