New York, NY, United States (4E Sports) – Mark Sanchez remains the New York Jets’ starting quarterback, despite another poor performance and the presence of Tim Tebow.
This was reiterated by Coach Rex Ryan after Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
“Mark’s our starting quarterback,” the coach said. “I believe in him.”
Sanchez remains undeterred about his role.
“I know Rex has faith in me just like I have faith in Rex,” he quipped.
Ryan said he never sat down with Sanchez before the season and made any assurances about him holding the job throughout the year.
The Jets are 3-6 and have lost three straight with Mark Sanchez passing rate at 70.4.
Sanchez, meanwhile spoke to the media saying he felt the need to answer questions about the offense and his mistakes. He particularly emphasized the errors he made on his fumble while being sacked and an interception at the goal line.
“That’s a rookie move by a veteran that knows better,” Sanchez said.
Sanchez said that the presence of Tebow has not made the job more difficult for him, nor has large following.
Brandon Moore said that the Sanchez has the support of the Jets.
“We’re united,” Moore said. “I think it’s pretty easy for you guys to pinpoint Mark as the problems. I think blame goes around.”
