Bellevue, WA, United States (4E) – Video game developer Valve, popular creator of the Half-Life series, is developing an improved gaming engine. According to Valve honcho Gabe Newell they’ve been “working on new engine stuff” for quite some time.
“We’ve been working on new engine stuff for a while. We’ve just been waiting for a game to roll it out with or we’ll probably just roll it out with a game,” Newell stated.
Valve is still determining if the new engine will be launched simultaneously with a brand new game (Half-Life 3) or the company will create the game first then install the engine. The developer doesn’t want to come out with just a game patch. It wants to give gamers a totallly new experience.
Website 4chan.org conducted the interview with Newell and was seeking answers regarding Half-Life 3, the sequel to the best-selling Half-Life 2.
Having a new game engine installed for Half-Life 3 will mean innovation for the PC gaming industry.
Half-Life 2 became one of the most popular and most played games because users could directly download a copy from Steam.
