Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Michael Arndt, the man whose hand was behind the script of the animated film Toy Story 3, will be penning the screenplay for the next Star Wars movie.
Some of Arndt’s credits include award-winning comedy ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ and Hunger Games sequel ‘Catching Fire’ (as co-writer).
The announcement comes after it was announced that Disney has acquired Lucasfilms (company responsible for all Star Wars films, run by George Lucas) for a reported $4 billion and is to produce three new films.
The upcoming Star Wars film is said to feature characters from the past films in the successful franchise and that appearances by original cast including Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford are possible. According to Hollywood Reporter, ‘Star Wars: Episode 7′ is scheduled for release in 2015 and will focus on a new generation of heroes.
Despite various names popping up, George Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy, who are to produce the film, have yet to announce who will direct the movie.
