TYRONE —The Tyrone Hospital Foundation invites the community to share the spirit of the holiday season and support Tyrone Hospital’s vital healthcare mission by making a donation through the Foundation’s 12th annual “Tree of Light.”
Throughout the holiday season, trees will be located in the hospital’s main lobby displaying angels purchased to remember deceased loved ones, to honor those living or to recognize your business or organization. Those wishing to purchase an angel may do so by submitting a donation of $5 or more for each name being honored or remembered, and a completed Tree of Light form to the Foundation office at Tyrone Hospital.
A ceremony to include lighting of the trees, musical performances and refreshments will be held in the main lobby at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3 at the Tyrone Hospital. The community is invited to attend.
Funds raised from this year’s Tree of Light campaign will be used to help fund the purchase of digital mammography equipment. Early detection of breast cancer dramatically increases the survival rate to near 100 percent. About one in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer over the course of their lifetime.
Randy Miles Sr., chairman of the Tyrone Hospital Foundation, said the Tree of Light is one way people can support Tyrone Hospital.
“The Tree of Light is to remind us of those we love and remember. It also symbolizes the hospital’s mission to care for the community and represents the caring spirit of many individuals, businesses, and other organizations who support their friends and neighbors by supporting Tyrone Hospital.”
Donations are currently being accepted for the Tree of Light which runs through the end of December.
