Pennsylvania General Energy (PGE) is the latest corporation to participate in the Headwaters Conservation Partnership (HCP).
According to Headwaters RC&D Executive Director Dale Fox the PGE was one of the first companies that were initially approached for the HCP program, and their participation is welcomed. PGE is headquartered in Warren and has been active in conservation in the region for many years.
“It is very meaningful to us to have a local company like PGE recognize and support the conservation opportunities in our region,” said Fox.
PGE has been engaged in oil and natural gas development since 1978, and has operations across the Appalachian basin. PGE has drilled more than 1,500 conventional and unconventional wells in the past 34 years. The company brings a strong record of environmental stewardship and compliance to every aspect of its operations, as well as building mutually beneficial partnerships with communities where they live and work.
Karen Thomas, PGE vice president of human resources, added: “The majority of PGE employees are Pennsylvania natives, and this new partnership with the HCP program fits well with our business model linking PGE to organizations that align with our mission.
“PGE is pleased to partner with the HCP program. As we learned more about the positive impact as a result of the projects where HCP was a catalyst, across the same regional space as our operations, we determined that there was a good fit with PGE’s standards of operation.” The company has chosen to dedicate its $1,000 donation toward conservation efforts in McKean County.
“Promoting environmental education to foster an appreciation for McKean County’s natural resources is one of our priorities. This donation will certainly help to advance our education programs,” said Kerry Fetter, chairman of the McKean County Conservation District.
The HCP is open to corporations, small businesses and individuals active in the Headwaters region of Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Jefferson, McKean and Potter counties. More information can be found on www.headwaterspa.org.
