Tuscaloosa, AL, United States (NewsBahn) – Johnny Manziel was terrific in passing for a pair of touchdowns, while rolling up 92 yards rushing in lifting No. 15 Texas A&M to a 29-24 upset of top-ranked Alabama Saturday.
Manziel completed 24 of 31 passes for 253 yards, with Ryan Swope hauling in 11 receptions for 111 yards and a score.
Alabama came into the game No. 1 in the nation and with championship aspirations, but couldn’t fully recover from a 20-0 first quarter deficit.
T.J. Yeldon and Eddie Lacy had two-yard scoring dashes for ‘Bama in the second quarter, but Malcome Kennedy’s 24 yard touchdown connection from Manziel midway through the fourth quarter helped the Aggies put the game away.
Deshazor Everett saw to that with an interception near the end zone in the closing moments, giving Texas A&M the win.
AJ McCarron passed for 309 yards and a score for the Crimson Tide, but also had a pair of picks.
‘Bama fell to 9-1, 6-1 SEC, while the Aggies improved to 8-2, 5-2.
