London, England, United Kingdom (4E Sports) – Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic and US Open champion Andy Murray are into the semifinal round of the ATP Tour finals after they wrapped up the group stages with almost similar victory Friday at 02 Arena.
Djokovic remains on track of capturing his first ATP Tour Finals title, besting Tomas Berdych 6-2, 7-6 (6) to keep his slate clean after three games in Group A.
The top-ranked Serb defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 7-6, 6-3 in the first game, edged Murray 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 in the second before dispatching the Czech in the third.
Murray qualified for the semis by besting Tsonga 6-2, 7-6(7-3) Saturday. Murray survived Berdych 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in his first match.
Meanwhile, Roger Federer looks to stay unbeaten in his group matches as he faces Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina.
Federer has been masterful in his two previous matches, defeating Janko Tipsarevic 6-3, 6-1 and David Ferrer 6-4, 7-6(7-5). Del Potro is expected to bring his best as he tries to qualify for the semis of the ATP Tour Finals.
Ferrer also has a chance to become a semifinalist in the season-ending event if he successfully defeats a slumping Tipsarevic, who remains winless in the tourney.
