Washington, DC, United States (NewsBahn) – In a separate development, the White House has confirmed that newly re-elected President Barack Obama will make a historic visit to Myanmar later this month.

During his brief visit, which is aimed at boosting a political reform drive in the former military-ruled nation, Obama will meet democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi and reformist President Thein Sein.

Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt has also confirmed about his meeting with Suu Kyi, President Sein, the speakers of the lower and upper houses of parliament, and representatives of ethnic minorities during his visit to Myanmar next week.

This is the first visit by any Swedish head of government to Myanmar, said Reinfeldt’s spokesman, Markus Friberg.
