San Francisco, CA, United States (4E) – A 37-year-old man who was assaulted and severely wounded while celebrating the San Francisco Giants’ World Series win in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood has died.
Police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy reported Thursday that Sean Moffitt arrived home and informed his roommate he was attacked around 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 28 along Haight Street.
According to officials, Moffitt told his roommate that a group of people surrounded him and beat him several times in the head with a metal object.
The victim went to bed, however, the next morning his roommate alerted 911 after seeing that his condition has worsened.
Medical personnel transported him to San Francisco General Hospital, where he died on October 30, the medical examiner’s office said.
Police, who are still investigating the circumstances of the injuries, have determined the case a suspicious death as they await the results of Moffitt’s autopsy.
Nobody has been arrested in the case.
